Food Near Franklin

It's been almost 2 years since I gave a brief review of some local restaurants, so I figured it was time for an update.

**** for awesome food.
^^^^ for awesome atmosphere.
$ for prices under 10, $$ for teens, $$$ for some entrees over $20.

Brunch
Franklin Mercantile Deli (****^^^^$) - get an omelette, seriously
The Perch (***^^$) - love having a creperie though some are a bit dry
Henpeck Market (***^^^$) - authentic feel; live music; Southern breakfast
Puffy Muffin (**^^^$) - good bakery; local feel
Dunkin Donuts (**^$) - pre-packed fast food but my guys love it

Mexican
Sol (****^^^^$$$) - guac, tuna nachos, & conchinita pibil
Local Taco (****^^^^$) - fresh, hip, original; get the corn side
Sopapillas (***^^^$$) - fresh; great shrimp quesadillas, salad w/shrimp, sopapillas
Chuy's (**^^^^$$) - love the patio & tortilla soup; other entrees were ordinary

Southern Gourmet
Mack & Kate's Cafe (****^^^^$$$) - delicious; elegant & local; my new fav for special occassions (bumped Saffire to #2)

Italian
Mama Mia's (***^^$$) - local; slow service
Amerigo's (***^^^$$) - easy date nt; small step up from Macaroni Grille
Finezza Bistro (***^^^$$) - awesome bread; local feel

Indian/Asian
Ching Asian Bistro (****^^^$$) - authentic, quality Chinese food in Westhaven
Taste of India (****^^$$) - loved the kati roll, naan; excited to have Indian in Franklin!

American
Fido (****^^^^$) - great atmosphere, amazing food (esp. beef-lamb-fennel burger)
Logan's (****^^^^$$) - Noah's all-time fav; 2 for $15 deal is key/amazing
Daily Dish (****^$) - great for takeout
Dan McGuinness Pub (****^^^$$) - best pub food & atmosphere (but only 21+)
McCreary's Pub (***^^^^$) - fish & chips with the best tartar sauce ever
Wolfgang Puck Express (***^^$$) - fast good food w/price but not perks of a full-service restaurant; good for a Fri nt with no reservations
McDougal's Chicken (***^^$) - best chicken tenders, sauces & free i.c. (and that's it)
Bricks Cafe (***^^^$$) - big menu, local feel

Pizza
Brother's Pizza (**$$) - local version of Papa Johns or Domino's
Nashville Pizza Co (**^$$) - ok but Mellow Mushroom & Pie in the Sky are better
Papa Murphy's (**$$) - good but expensive for uncooked pizza

Drinks/Desserts
Mack & Kate's (****^^^^$$$) - Henley & Sons sachet tea, amazing capuccinos
Fido (****^^^^$) - get "the rollover" (capuccino w/choc & caramel)
Sweet Cece's (****^^^^$) - great atmosphere; love the toppings buffet
Merridee's (***^^^^$) - good bottomless cup of coffee (decaf, flavors, etc)
Sodium (**^^$) - typical lattes

Lunch
City Limits Cafe (****^^^$) - love turkey/brie/pear panini, salads, coffees
HRH Dumplin's (*^^$) - wilted salads, canned-soup casseroles, burned quiche

  2. Wolfgang Puck Express is closed : (. I'll miss that spinach salad. I cannot remember the name of the restaurant moving in, but a friend raved about it.

    Christina - Wow! I didn't know that. I was never quite sure why the concept didn't seem to work here - seems a great fit for Franklin, but it was often empty. Ah well, I'll be curious to see what fills its space!
