When Noah and Aaron were each 6-8 weeks old, they started sleeping longer stretches at night. We got excited. Then we packed everyone up and left town for one reason or another, and the sleep schedules went to the dogs. They weren't comfortable sleeping somewhere else, and I wasn't comfortable letting them cry somewhere else, so we lost naps and slid back into frequent nighttime wakings. It took me months to get us back on track (partially because this usually happened just before the holidays and flu season).
This time around, I'd vowed not to let this happen. We were STAYING HOME.
Well. Mostly.
A couple weeks before Thanksgiving, we realized that ALL of Josh's relatives would be gathering 3 hours away for the big dinner, and it would be a perfect time to see them and introduce Isaac. Thus begins the slippery slope...
But, I'm proud to say we found a happy compromise. We left Thursday morning and returned Friday night. I figured we could endure anything for 24hrs and correct any regression once we got home. This proved true. It was really wonderful to see all the family...
We all had a fabulous time and it was great to come home Friday night to our own beds. Now we're going to give Isaac a couple more months to solidify his sleep schedule before we haul off to points south for a crazy caper with Mickey... More on that lunacy later.
