Boys Boys Boys

Our Sunday school class started out eight years ago as a place for singles and couples. In the natural progression of life, it has slowly become a class of young marrieds and young families. This may not seem remarkable in and of itself. However, the recent trend in babies has caught our attention.

In the last year, the average age of our class membership has dropped dramatically with the arrival of 13 babies: 12 boys and 1 girl. That's right 12:1. According to Josh, the odds of that gender ratio are about a zillion to one (well, he was a bit more exact -- 3/2048 -- but I like my version better). It's not just a basketball team, it's a league. Since the national ratio is still near 50/50, we're thinking there must be a Sunday school across town that's drowning in pink.

In the meantime, it means our little Noah will have no shortage of friends. In fact, he went to visit one new arrival on Saturday and just couldn't help showing off his size (nearly 10 lbs!). The downside is that the competiton for girls could really heat up in another 15 years. Great Grandma Merrill thinks our son will have a leg up since he can raise his left eyebrow in a very dashing way. Let's just hope he only uses the eyebrow on church girls -- assuming our class has a few more by then...

  1. You can add me to the Noah Adoration Society. I am a friend of Donna and Charley (and a fellow grandparent!!). I have met you, the proud parents, at SCC. I am so happy to see photos of precious Noah. Yes, he is just the cutest!! Ellen Searcy
