7th Heaven

We don't deserve it. We know that. But somehow we've been blessed with a 4-week-old who goes to sleep on his own and stays that way for an average seven hours/night between feedings (9:30pm - 4:30am). This is the same boy who doesn't mind his diaper being changed, started smiling when he was less than a week old, and can breastfeed or bottle-feed without a hitch. I can only think of a few explanations:

1. God is trying to shatter any anxieties we had about the trauma of becoming parents,
2. He's decided to make us wish we'd started a family sooner,
3. He knows what's coming in the future and decided to go easy on us in the beginning,
4. He's pomised to only give us what we can handle and he knows we're just not strong enough for colic,
5. He knew we needed an object lesson in grace to finally understand that he loves us far more than we deserve.

I have a hunch it's a little bit of each, but regardless, we're SO thankful and committed to enjoying every minute. We would love Noah just as much if he were cranky, but he's just such fun as a happy, growing, sleeping little boy. Who knew we could have this much love for one so small??
