Skinny Denny, Jr.

Wednesday, we headed to the doctor for the 1-year check-up, confirming that Noah's healthy and skinny (50-75% in height, <5% weight). We're working on pumping him full of fat, but I think the kid takes after his dad - he'd rather play than eat.

That said, he's entered the world of cow's milk and table food with flying colors. It's such fun introducing him to spices and casseroles and meat you don't eat with a spoon. So far, he's loved watermelon (even the rind), chili (white or red), bananas and peanut butter, baked beans, hot dogs, smoked turkey, pizza, and crackers.

At the risk of telling you more than you want to know, we've also spent the last two weeks weaning. Noah doesn't seem to have noticed, while Mommy is trying to appreciate that it was so easy.

  1. I thought 13mo and 14mo were so fun with the communicating and lots of cute moments and fast learning!! It was a fun age - we are getting a big more opininated here at 15/16mo and he is wanting to do things that aren't allowed.

I wanted to pass along a head's up to you that you probably already know but i didn't! Seemed like all the visits up to this point didn't really involve things that I directly affected (I mean I encouraged sitting/rolling/walking but he just kinda "did" it without my needing to "teach" him ya know?)

Well, at the 15mo well visit, they ask about abilities the little ones that WE influence!! In addition to the regular questions (stacking, drinking from sippy/cup, walking, etc) they have the ability to point to body parts as well as the ability to make animal noises by 15mo!! I found this out about 2wks before the 15mo appt and kinda crammed with Samuel until he had 4 body parts and one animal sound down!! It's not a big deal to most doctors though it is to some. I just felt bad that I didn't realize it much ahead of time so I'm giving the mommies I know a head's up!! They should be able to say something like more than 5 words but I found that those just kinda happened though we had to practice body parts and sounds. FYI!!
