The Whole Shebang

A couple weeks ago, Franklin had a nice dusting that gave Noah a chance to fill his trucks with snow and haul it around the driveway. This week, we had a REAL SNOW! At least 2-3" - enough to cover all the grass - and low temps that kept it in place for more than 12 hours. Yippee!

I've always loved winter, but I especially love snow. It's such a holiday. The world is transformed; every blemish hidden. Houses feel cozier. Activities come to a halt. It's a forced vacation with a special built-in toy (the snow) and accessories (sleds, hot chocolate).

Yesterday, Noah did not get it. I took him out in the snow, but it was so deep he couldn't drive his trucks/bikes and so dry that we couldn't make a snowball let alone a snowman. He looked at me like, What are we doing out here? Then said, "It's cold. I want to go inside."

This morning, we rectified this travesty. Josh dragged him in our laundry basket (you know you're in the south when no one owns an actual "sled") down to the sledding hill and let him swish down the hill with the neighbors. Then on the way back, I met him with his first hot chocolate. He spent the next hour marching around the house, singing the glories of "HOT CHOCOLATE!" and asking if he had chocolate chips in his sippy cup.

For lunch, we wanted to walk to Pucketts but feared the ice on Hillsboro Rd, so instead we walked across the street to El Guadalajara. It was the toughest test yet for our fabulous new double jogging stroller, but it passed with flying colors. I think I love the stroller as much as I love the snow. Maybe more.
