Cranes & Storks

Last year, Noah loved watching the "crane movie" -- the near-house-demolition scene in Father of the Bride 2. Construction trucks and a wrecking ball in your front yard. Cool. But eventually he moved onto something else and we put it away.

Until recently, when he asked to watch it again. At 3 1/2, the rest of the movie had more meaning to Noah than it used to. Two of the main characters are pregnant and go into labor on-screen. Later, two infants appear. Noah was curious about that...

Me: The babies are in their mommy's tummies.
Noah: How do they get out? Do they come out their mouths?
Me: No, they come out between their legs.
Noah: How do they do it? Do they breathe to get them out?
(in the labor scenes, the mothers are often told to "breathe")
Me: (If only.) Breathing helps, but mostly their bodies know when it's time to push the babies out. God made them that way.
Noah: I'm a boy. I used to be a baby. And before I was a baby, I was a boy.

Ok, so we still have some work to do.
