Not Just a Boy

Noah has an amazing imagination which keeps him entertained and entertaining round the clock.

Last Thursday, I told him to pick any toys he wanted for our weekend roadtrip - anything that would fit into the gallon ziplock I handed him. This is what he came back with...

And he was probably about right. His lincoln logs are swords, guns, levers, roads, train tracks, drum sticks, spyglasses, etc.

He's also great at taking found objects and building something wonderful, like this load on the back of Lightning McQueen.

And while he has long invented costumes for himself (the plastic-bag-Superman-cape or towel-headed-nativity-shepherd), his preschool's themed costume days have given us the chance to step it up a notch (not that it takes much to step up from a plastic grocery bag). My favorite part of this is how he feels free to enjoy these costumes wherever and whenever.

ALL of Dr. Seuss Day (including errands like Costco)

Preparing for the "Ugly Bug Ball" (breaking in the mask)

(checking out the antennae)

And in full gear for the big "ball" at school, which he was sad to hear did not actually involve playing with a "ball."

And then there was the fire drill at school, which led to full-time firefighter preparedness...

At dinner, church, the grocery store, and school.

Needless to say, I feel very safe - and oh so grateful for my little firefighter/bug/cat/boy.
