If These Walls Could Talk

Turns out, they can.

It started a couple weeks ago, when Josh noticed a wet spot on our first floor ceiling, suspiciously located directly under the boys' bathroom, where an overstuffed (with paper) toilet had flooded during an eventful potty-training session.

Then one night, I was sitting writing at the kitchen table when I heard a small, intermittent fizzling sound by the oven. I kept checking the burners and coffee maker. Finally realized it was the outlet behind the bread machine (i.e. paperweight).

Last night, I got up to use the restroom at 3:30am and it sounded like an upstairs toilet was running. I searched the house but couldn't find the source. My sweet and courageous husband went under the house at 4am to find a hot water leak in the crawl space.

Today, I am thanking God that

1) He put us in the right spots to notice the problems,
2) He gave us a trustworthy and reasonable handyman who fixed all three, and
3) We still have a house, which we will listen to more carefully than ever before.
