Not Quite Christmas

Tuesday, I visited two houses that had been decorated for Christmas. It hadn't occurred to me that I was already behind! So Wednesday, Noah and I went right out and started shopping for holiday cheer.

Enter, the dilemma: How to decorate. White feathers with red and silver sparkle? Looked great at Target but not on my mantle. Pine cones and big red flowers? Nice in Restoration Hardware, not so much in my pastel dining room. It's a quandry. I've fully perused TJMaxx, Hobby Lobby, and Target to no avail, and I'm too cheap to go all out with Pottery Barn (though I do have a PB gift card in my back pocket in case of emergency).

It all comes down to the fact that we've never had storage space for Christmas decor. Now that we do, I'm tempted to splurge. But I don't want it too decorator, or too flashy, or too subdued, or too cheap, or too bulky, or too labor-intensive.

Which is probably why I've decided it's far too early for us to decorate. ;) Might as well wait till after Thanksgiving, and then I have a feeling we'll go with the minimalist approach. A tree. And an elf (see photos).
