The Big ONE

My assignment for our neighborhood Bible study is to write a letter to my children for them to open when they turn 21. Right now, I can't quite get over the fact he's turning one, but here are a few of the things I want Aaron to know, now and then...

1. You are so loved. I love you. Daddy loves you. Jesus loves you. Your grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins love you. And it's not because we have to, or because you do anything to do deserve it. We just love you as God made you.

2. God made you with a purpose only you can fulfill. You are unique, and I cannot wait to see all the talents and ideas and opportunities he has packed into you and your life.

3. You are a wonderful baby, sweet-tempered and clear blue-eyed with that gorgeous red hair that shines in the sun. You love to be with people, to be held, to sit on the floor and explore (i.e. suck on, turn over, and throw tupperware or toys), to be thrown up in the air, to be tickled under your chin, to eat watermelon and baby oatmeal (and throw the rest on the floor), to ride in the stroller, to play in the nursery, to splash in the pool, and to watch Nemo with your brother (who loves to play with you).

4. After some hesitation, you've decided you also love cake. Mashed.

Happy Birthday, sweet boy. The first of many!
